BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

DOHA -- The Qatari health ministry on Monday announced 302 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total confirmed number in the Gulf state to 213,485, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
Meanwhile, 719 more recovered from the virus, bringing the overall recoveries to 207,796, while the fatalities increased by two to 532, according to a ministry statement quoted by QNA.
A total of 1,973,886 persons in Qatar have taken lab tests for COVID-19 so far, while the total number of vaccine doses administered is 2,073,354.

BEIRUT -- Lebanon registered on Monday 201 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections to 535,954, the Health Ministry said.
Meanwhile, the number of deaths from the virus went up by 11 to 7,631.

TEHRAN -- Iran reported on Monday 14,319 new COVID-19 cases, raising the country's total number to 2,765,485.
The pandemic has so far claimed 77,222 lives in Iran, up by 286 in the past 24 hours, the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education said, official IRNA news agency reported.
A total of 2,242,023 people have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals across the country, while 5,264 remain in intensive care units.

HAVANA -- Cuba reported on Monday 1,057 new COVID-19 infections and 10 more deaths in one day, for a total of 125,511 cases and 814 deaths, the Ministry of Public Health said.
Of the total number of new cases, 990 were from community transmission and 67 from imported cases, the ministry's director of hygiene and epidemiology Francisco Duran reported.

QUITO -- Ecuador recorded 741 new COVID-19 infections and 44 more deaths in the last 24 hours, for a total of 410,870 cases and 14,459 deaths, the Ministry of Public Health said on Monday.
Another 5,327 deaths are considered to be COVID-19 related, but not verified, according to the ministry.

TIRANA -- Albania's Health Ministry reported on Monday 17 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the lowest daily number in one year, raising the country's total tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 132,032.
Three COVID-19-related deaths were reported on Monday, taking the total number of fatalities in Albania to 2,435 since the beginning of the pandemic.
