Franco Fragapane had a goal and an assist in the opening 18 minutes of his second career MLS game, and host Minnesota United got a bit of revenge with a 2-0 victory over expansion Austin FC on Wednesday.
Fragapane scored on a right-footed blast inside the penalty area in the 10th minute, then fed a perfect corner kick to Adrien Hunou, who scored on a header in the box in the 18th minute as Minnesota (3-4-2, 11 points) extended its unbeaten streak to five games.
Fragapane and Hunou each were making their home debut.
Austin (2-5-3, 9 points) had Minnesota's full attention after it won by a 1-0 score in the Twin Cities on May 1. It was Austin's second victory in its third game.
Since that victory, Austin is 0-4-3, with its run of three consecutive tied games coming to an end. Austin has six goals on the season and just two over its last seven games.
This time, Minnesota rode the momentum of a packed house, the first time the Loons played in front of a full home venue since Sept. 29, 2019. Their first two games of 2020 were on the road before the COVID-19 pandemic arrived, and the rest of last season was played in empty stadiums.
Fragapane has now scored a goal in each of his first two games with Minnesota after the Argentina native arrived on loan from the Argentine club Talleres.
Hunou's goal was his first in three games with the Loons after he was acquired from the French club Stade Rennes.
Minnesota goalkeeper Tyler Miller had four saves in his third shutout of the season. Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver had one save.
